Show Happy winner Harry York, Hatch, receives 12 gauge shotgun prize from Phil Wagner, Ducks Unlimited and Russell Bulkley, newly formed Panguitch Chapter representative. Ducks Unlimited Chapter Formed BRYCE - Nearly 100 people attended a dinner-meeting at Rubys Inn Friday night to organize a Panguitch Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. The local chapter was organized by a committee which included Russell Bulkley, Steve Marshall, John Yardley, Bill Frandsen, Gary Owens, Mike Owens and George Brown. John Yardley served as emcee for the evening's program which feated an auction, raffle and door prizes along with prime rib dinner. Phil Wagner, Ducks Unlimited regional director, said that fewer than 200,000 ducks are successfully raised each year, with between 400,000 and 500,000 shot annually. Utahnns, he said, shot less than 30 percent of ducks raised in Utah. Wagner quoted statistics showing that 80 cents of every dollar raised by Ducks Unlimited goes to projects to maintain duck habit. Winning the evening's grand prize was Harry York, owner of Grandma Grunts in Hatch who took home a Weatherby Pump 12 gauge shotgun. |
