Show JUST STUFF 2 BY JflN i ' Big brothers are great things to have around .oh, granted, they might tease, on occasion, they might be down right ornery and mean at times, but all in all, they're pretty nifty. I remember when I was little it was always the case of "My brother's bigger than yours." It's amazing what "big brothers" can do. From a little tyke's point of view, a big brother ranks right up there with any heavenly beings they've learned about. You can count on big brothers; whether it's for a friendly wrestle on the lawn, a pinch on the posterior, a pat on the back or a listening ear. They're always' there., They pull through when you least expect it. The other day I decided to make some cookies. Being a little short In the recipe department, I called mom for the instructions. I was well on my way to making some delicious goodies when I realized that mom had failed to give me a time and temperature on my tasty treats. No problem just give her a call. WRONG1 She was out galavanting around somewhere. I did some fast thinking and decided to call my sister-in-law, Penny. It was to no avail. She was off be-bopping around town. I was getting desperate. My goodies were ready to go in the oven, but being the baker I am, I didn't know what to cook 'em on. Most likely mom would be at the Reaper, so I called. "Good afternoon, Reaper" came the friendly voice of my brother Markus. "Hi Mark," I said, "ls mom there." No such luck . . Penny wasn't there either. "What do you need, kiddo?" he said, being the helpful brother that he ls. I thought to myself "Mark knows less about the kitchen and cookies, other than how to eat 'em, than I do so why even bother telling him my problem?" But, I explained my dilemma anyway. "Oh, are. they, the ones with the oatmeal and chocolate?" he said. Surprised, I said "Yes." "Well, you cook them at 350 deg for about 10-15 minutes. But don't over cook 'em or they won't be any good." My cookies turned out just great and Mark pulled through one more time. But, brothers are like that, Even if it's some little, insignificant thing, they're often the ones who pull through. Not everyone's lucky enough to have a big brother. I lucked out and got two two of the best in the world. And, I got even more lucky when my sister got married. As the saying goes, I didn't lose a sister, I gained a brother. Kent, Mark and Dick, I just want you to know I love you all very much. Thanks for being such super brothers. |
