Show Two Fined In Wildlife Court Cases Recent action on two men involved in illegal taking of wildlife during the fall hunts of 1983 resulted in some fairly stiff sentences. Judge Louis Tervort of the Tenth Circuit heard the cases. Daniel Trimble of Orange, Calif., forfeited $1,000 bail in connection with illegally killing a doe deer on the opening day of the 1983 hunt. Trimble had shot and abandoned the doe in the Little Valleys area west of Panguitch. Investigation by Conservation Officer Norman McKee of Panguitch, after receiving a tip on the violation, led to Trimble's arrest. Rodney Winkle of Richfield settled with a diversionary agreement for illegally shooting and wasting two bison on the Henry Mountains of Garfield county. Winkel was hunting bison on a legally drawn permit. However, besides his legal harvest, two other animals were alsn shot. Winkle forfeited $2,610 and a 30.06 rifle in the incident. Both Trimble and Winkel will have their hunting license privileges revoked as part of the penalty. Unlawful taking of big game (poaching) is. a Class A misdemeanor in Utah, said McKee, who pointed out that the cases are an example of the continuing trend toward more public involvement in apprehension of those committing wildlife violations a;d the stiffer penalties for those who break wildlife law. |
