Show Men Are Fined Two Panguitch residents pleaded guilty to a charge of unauthorized tree cutting as they appeared before U.S. Magistrate Patrick Fenton in Cedar City on February 20. Kyle Stewart and Kenneth Partridge were fined $250 each with a jail sentence of 30 days imposed. The jail time was suspended with the provision that the fines be paid within the 30 day period. Section 36 CFR 261-6a of the Code of Federal Regulation states that it is illegal to ". . . cut any tree, or other forest product except as authorized by permit, timber sale, contract federal law or regulation." Both Stewart and Partridge were responding to charges made January 12 that they were unlawfully cutting timber in the Three Mile Creek-Big Sandy Creek area for commercial use. |
