Show Future Coal Development Topic of Meet on Tuesdav I Public comment on proposed development of coal on federal lands in Garfield and Kane Counties is invited by the Bureau of Land Management and Dixie National Forest. BLM area managers will be available in the BLM office in kanab on March 29, and the BLM area manager and district range.r Powell Division of the Dixie National Forest, will be available in the BLM office in Escalante on March 30 to discuss the proposals and receive comments. According to Morgan Jensen, Cedar City BLM district manager, and Merlin Bishop, Dixie National Forest Supervisor, the proposals involve coal areas that were nominated by industry for leasing as well as areas where action is pending on preference right lease applications. The BLM area managers and the district forest ranger may be contacted prior to March 29 and 30 to arrange for appointments to discuss the proposals if it is more convenient. The objective of public comment is to identify impacts associated with the proposals that may not have come to light thus far. After multiple use considerations the proposals may undergo further study in the Southern Utah regional coal environmental statement being prepared by U.S. Geological Survey.
