Show Help Available in State For Alcholics9 Families How many times have you heard a confused youngster tell her playmates that the reason Daddy is always asleep on the livig room couch is because "he has the flu?" How many times have you heard similar incredulous alibis for housewives when actually, for all the Daddy, the husband, the wife the truth is they're just plain drunk? The Utah Alcoholism Foundation stresses this does not mean responsible drinkers, but those who think they MUST drink to function when, in actuality, they can't function adequately because they drink. Learn more about these problem drinkers and how you and the rest of your family can help them most by (1) learning more about the disease and (2) facing up to your own problems. Bernie Boswell, executive director of the Foundation's Cottage Program, formerly a problem drinker himself, will be glad to tell you the Cottage's full story, from the initial contact to learning living skills. You not only can help the alcohol abuser in your family you can help the rest of the family, too. And most important, you can help yourself!
