Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey The beautiful weather is holding up and so is the work. It is time to start moving the cattle from Summer to Winter range and the harvesting is still In progress, so there is no time for anyone to get Into mischief. Andrew Spencer spent some time in the Cedar City hospital but is home and getting around. He said they would not let him come home until he promised to keep his nose clean. We were all helping Sox and Effie Spencer worry about son. Kevin and found out he Is working in Boulder on a house, leg cast and all. Hazel Haycock is still in the Panguitch hospital not doing so well; Spence and Mary Lynn have made several trips to visit her. Others we heard of having business in Panguitch were Almeda Haycock, Vera Davis, the Griffins, Clarice, Ernie and Mary, and Clella Woolsey. Dean Gledhill went to Salt Lake City to meet Janis and the kids who flew back from Anchorage, Alaska. Evadean Liston accompanied him to visit the Elvon Poulsens in Salt Lake City, and the Jim Alveys in Springville. Dianne Alvey went North and got her leg cast off, she still has an impediment in her walk but is improving all the time. Nell Barker went to St George to keep the home fires burning at the Paul Cardon residence while Paul and Gayla went to Salt Lake City where he was scheduled for surgery. Merlo Kay Woolsey came through his back surgery in fair shape. They removed a herniated disc but did not fuse the spine together hoping that the muscles will strengthen to keep his back from being stiff. The family were relying on Richard and Carolyn Wilson to check on him but they had to take their little girl North for eye surgery. Vernon and Rula Spencer had a weekend visit from Analee and Roger Piquet and small daughter from Idaho Falls, Idaho. Roger had an elbow brace and his arm wrapped showing he had met with some misfortune. Lovell and Martha Twitchell had Beth and Rotis Coleman here from Richfield. The Bob Sylvesters of Richfield spent Saturday night and most of Sunday here. They run a furniture store and specialize in selling love seats to lonesome little old ladies. They do .not supply a man with a mustache to share the love seats. Guy and Twila Leming went to Salt Lake City. Jim and Norma Leming had business in Richfield. Don Coleman spent a week in Salt Lake City for BLM schooling. Bill Neal is wandering around like a lost soul, Babs went and left him again. Arden and MaeVon Taylor packed their worldly possessions in readiness to move, they thought they had their home sold but there was some delay so they are just waiting. MaeVon is the new ordering person for Montgomery Ward so if you want your goods PDQ order from MaeVon. My youngest brother, Neils Little of Salt Lake City came here and stayed overnight. He had been to Little's Ranch and brought Mothers rocking chair to help her feel more to home. He reported our brother Kay back in the ward and feeling some better. Naomi Bolten and Hazel Sanborn left for California before the arrival of the stork, just leaving Hank and Tom to their own resources. Amanda Marriage and Mary Partridge of Panguitch were in town last week. It was Amanda's final run as she is going to work at the new hospital. The Melvin Alveys had Helen and Rick Pruitt here for the weekend. Ivan and Nelda Willis had a visit from son Elwood and his daughtger Lisa of Richfield. The Dale Marshes have grandson Dean Woolsey here from Cedar City. His mother, Kathleen went to Salt Lake City for Relief Society conference. Dot Coombs and daughter joined Mother Alvey and myself for a trip to Richfield. We talked briefly to Donna Rae Barker, she did not think we knew her. We did not go on vacation like so many other folk, we really had no incentive, we were all ready tired and broke. |
