Show 50,000 Grant Expected For Escalante City Park EXCALANTE The Utah SUte Department of Natural Resources, Division of Outdoor Recreation has tenatively approved a grant of $50,000 for building the Escalante Pioneer Memorial Town Park, which Is being developed as a Bicentennial project aaccording to Nethella Woolsey, Escalante's bicentennial project chairman. Mayor W. Mohr Christensen has been assured that while final approval must await acceptance of the federal agency, there is little doubt that the grant will be made final very soon. He is advised to begin construction beginning as soon as possible. Land for the town park which lies near Utah Highway 12 on the northwest side of Escalante was surveyed showing there are seven acres in the park site, six of which was donated by Mrs. Dinah Christensen. Emery Larsen, landscape artist for the Utah SUte Road Commission, is drafting the final plans for landscaping the park. Much of the material needed Is on hand and the rest will be ordered soon. Mayor Christensen expects much of the construction will be com pleted this fall. |
