Show Panguitch Council Okays Revision of Ordinances Members of the Panguitch City Council Meeting Tuesday agreed that the city ordinances which had not been up-dated since 1953 should be up-dated. By appointing the Utah League of Cities and Towns to prepare and submit to the city council ordinances the bringing in modern additions, it would only cost the city $1050.00. If they hired a firm outside of the Utah League of Cities and Towns to prepare these ordinances it would cost in the neighborhood of $7,000. The league has prepared a comprehensive model municipal ordinance code designed for amendments, deletions and additions to meet the special needs of Panguitch. The new ordinances should be ready for approval in 45 to 60 days. Also at the meeting an application for the Southern Utah Equitable to purchase a beer license was approved. The following names were picked by the Panguitch Council to serve as judges of election: District No. 1, Myra Miller, Beverly Crosby and Ned Miller with Margaret Frand-sen, Rae Dodds, and Mary Henrie as alternates; No. 2, Isabel Ipson, Mary Sargent, Earl Sevy, with Leonard Wilcock and Gloria Houston as alternates. The bust of Dr. Sims Duggins, sculptured by LaRae Williams and donated to the Garfield Memorial Hospital was discussed. It was the opinion of the council for someone to spearhead a drive to collect money to have the sculpturing bronzed, making it more elegant and durable. Mayor Wallace G. Lee reported that the park landscaping committee had met and decided on plants for the park which will total $544.50. |
