Show Ranchers And Agency Men Meet On Resources .Local ranchers met with various agency representatives at the Kane County Court House Friday evening to discuss natural resource management and development plans. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate alternatives for managing and improving all resources values on BLM administered public lands and the private lands used in conjunction with these. At the meeting arranged by Carl Hatch, County Extension Agent, Don Gipe, BLM District Manager, described three alternative plans for managing, protecting and developing the Coyote, West Butler Valley and Five Mile Allotments. The proposed program calls for a schedule of management and development practices to protect, to improve and to use all resources. The program outlined includes: Range Management, Brush Control, Seeding, Fencing, Water Control and Development, Recreation Site Development, and Game Habitat Improvement. All are designed to conserve the water and hold the soil in place. These will improve the pro- -ductlve capabilities of public and private lands, increase forage for livestock and wildlife, reduce downstream sedimentation, and reduce flooding and pollution. Outdoor recreation facilities at Cottonwood Canyon and Grosvenor Arch were part of the plan proposed by Mr Gipe. Further meetings are planned to consumate the proposal. |
