Show Hatch REVA LOWDER Our annual Relief Society anniversary was held the 17th. A banquet-was served to a large crowd. A program, under direction of Maggie Barn-hurst, was enjoyed; it consisti ed of skits and musical numbers by the Hurricane Harmo-nettes, a ladies orchestra, they played for dancing after the program. The high light of the party was the presentation of the Relief Society History book to former president Ver-da Sawyer and president Lucille Huntington. It was composed and presented by Effel RIggs. It includes the history of the Relief Society from the time it was organized until the present time, It has many pictures, dates and events of workers of the organization. There were three stake ladies present: Loris Chidester accompanied Mrs. Chidester, Myrtle Riggs and Verda Tebbs. Other visitors at the anniversary were the Gib Clarks and Orlas Riggs of Kanab, the Al-den Blacks of Pangultch, h$ Max Burrows of Fredonla. The Clarks and Mr. Riggs also were home over the weekend, Mrs. Riggs accompanied Jerry to Kanab Friday. Grant Dalton is home from his job at White Canyon. Visiting Sarah Porter Saturday were the Derell Sudweeks of Tropic, Sunday visitors were, the Ammon Johnsons of Ord-ervllle. Visiting overnight Friday at the Gale Wilcock home were, the Arthur Wilcocks of St. George. Mr. and Mrs. KnolUs of Oregon werq Friday visitors, Mr. Knollis has recently returned from a mission to Eng; land and was Elder Evan Wil-cock's 'companion there. The Karl Lowders, May, Va-leene and Kent Sawygr, also Mrs. Pat Dix went to Cedar City Friday; Melodie and (Jasey stayed with their grandpas ents. Saturday, the Pat Dix family visited at the Oliver Huntlngtons. Mrs. Effel Riggs returned home with Jay Mlckelsen of Nephi after a visit there and Salt Lake for several weeks. Norman Henderson went to Provo during the week on business. Diana Gale Harrison is here with her parents after attending school at St. George. Russell Wilson was a business visitor at Beaver Wednesday. Sunday visitors in town were the Bert Felsteads of Parowan at the Karl Lowders; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Evans, Afton and Vaughn of Cedar City, they have moved from New Castle to a ranch near Cedar. Mrs. Duncan Findlay, Mrs. David Frost and children of Kanab visited the T. II. Sawyers on Friday. The E. F. Tureks received word that their son, Elder Brent Turek, who is on a mission to Uruguay, is in Montevideo playing on a basketball team. He recently went with the, team to Brazil for the International basketball tourney. This team will play against the BYU in the near future. They also received word that their son, Captain E. H. Turek, who is stationed at Bermuda, is par- taking in the Gemini missle task of recovery if It should fail to make the 3rd orbit. College students home were the Duard Riggs family, the Roald Sawyer family, Richard Wilson, Homer Dutton, Donald Heap, Jess Lowder, the James Jarvis family, all of Cedar; Hugh and Wayne Wilson from Dixie; LaVor Deuel of Logan. Ivor Riggs took his group of Scouts on an overnight camping trip Friday to Calf Creek. |
