Show Round Robin Round Up, Good Show All Around - Region Champs Take State With reports in from all precincts we can now say that the Region Seven Round-Robin basketball tourney held earlier this month was an unqualified success. Everybody has had kind words to say about the folks who ran the event and Panguitch and its people. The Richfield Reaper had a very gracious "Thank You Panguitch" editorial. Mr. Bill, Coltrin of the Salt Lake Tribune, and Mr. Reed Madsen of the Desert News commented generously on the excellent way the three-day tourney was handled. The radio people of Richfield's KSVC and Cedar'sKSUB gave Panguitch, the Region and everybody concerned a pat on the back Just to show everybody how good things were here; South Sevier and North San Pete went to the State Tourney and re-played the thrilling finale which they staged here when South Sevier won the Region championship: only this time it was for the State Championship. South Sevier won by 3 points at Provo, just like at Panguitch. Of the four teams sent to the State tourney from the local tourney, all finished in the top seven; South Sevier, champion; North San Pete runner-up; Manti Fourth and Em-cry seventh. Proceeds from the games topped the eight and a half thousand mark. Principal C. S. LeFevre of Panguitch High School announced that the bleacher scats are all paid for. A check for $11,136 was mailed out on the 22nd to pay them off. |
