Show Miss Melanle McEwen Melanie's Name Goes Up In Lights As The 'Belle' Of B.Y.U. Melanie McEwen saw her name "go up in lights" recently and knew she was the "belle of the Y." The Panguitch coed was informed she was the winner of the two-week long contest at the Brigham Young University when her initials burned alongside the block Y on the hillside cast of the campus. The contest included tests ranging from cako baking to culture. Miss Ewen, a medical tech nology sophomore, won in the beauty,, poise and personality division of the contest as well as in the dancing and crafts divisions. Her entry in crafts was a black suit and red coat she had sewn. She is a member of the International Folkdance troupe at BYU. She was sponsored in the contest by Intercollegiate Knights and Y Calcares service organizations. Melanie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem McEwen. |
