Show Bullfrog Resort Development Outlined The Department of the Interior has issued a prospectus for operation of a 30-unit motel, restaurant, store, and boating facilities at Bullfrog Basin on Lake Powell. A concession contract requiring an estimated $500,000 Investment will be negotiated to provide facilities at Bullfrog Basin. This would include construction of facilities on a two-phase, time schedule. The first phase would start three months after signing of the contract and would amount to $100,000. The second phase would be completed in three years. Bullfrog Basin is 105 miles upstream from Glen Canyon Dam in the remote section of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and is accessible only by water and a road suitable only for jeeps or such equipment. An improved road will be built by the government. The Basin Is considered by many to be the best location for a major commercial recreation center on Lake Powell because it is the nearest recreation site on Lake Powell to Salt Lake City, Provo and other major population and transportation Utah centers. |
