Bell will now serve at As you can see, a city cannot swoop down and pick up choice tax space without the necessary concurrence of property owners. C. Mayor Maloney (West Valley City) has assured us that he has no intention of encouraging annexation of our area to West Valley. He has also indicated that he will keep the Community Council informed if any annexation is afoot. 7. Some have said that if we do not incorporate now we will never have the opportunity to incorporate again. That is false information. Future incorporation is always a possibility upon proper petitioning of the Salt Lake County Commission. House Bill 71, recently passed by the Utah Legislature, authorizes the callings of elections in the future after receiving the necessary petitions. For the above reasons this committee urges your no vote on Tuesday, April 5, thus preventing Taylorsville-Bennio- n from becoming a third class city. By staying in the unincorporated area of the county, we can retain our proper services, keep our tax increases at a minimum, and enjoy the quality of life that we presently have. Please vote on April 5. Please encourage your neighbors, your family, your friends, to vote no to defeat this proposal. Lynne Turner Chairman, Citizens Against Incorporation of E tT vf BLACK STALLION (From Page 4A, Sr THE MAN FROM Mich. (From Page 4A, Col. 2) nexation is real and from three sides. It would be a shame for any part of this community to be annexed into another city and, therefore, sever forever that portion from its mother community. The ability of a city to finance its services is indeed a pertinent item for all residents to consider when looking at incorporation and it may cost a little more to have their own city. A bill passed by the 1983 Legislature should help to bring about a brighter financial picture to cities that are generally bedroom communities like Taylorsville-BennioThe bill causes a portion of sales tax revenue to be distributed back to the cities on a population basis, as well as point of sale, therefore the city will receive some of its tax money back for purchases made outside the city. There will be many other unanticipated benefits that come after becoming a city. People with common interests will come together and work for the benefit of their interests in areas like education, recreation and the arts, and will therefore benefit the entire city.
