Show Buzzing Bear River Ward Primary opens season with festivities by Senneth Hawkes The season of parties and fun has already begun, The Primary officers and teachers and their husbands are the first in the ward to have their Christmas party. It was held at the ward cultural hall Friday under the direction of the officers Joy Nelson, Thelma Fonnesbeck, Ann Barker and Artel Brailsford. Sandy Anderson was in charge of the program which consisted of a songfest of Christmas carols by Kami Jensen, Denise Christensen, David Anderson, Leon Jensen and Suzan Jensen accompanied by Marilyn Hendrickson. There were 55 people there. families here for the funeral of their mother, Mrs. Zina Hansen, were Mr. and Mrs. Don Hansen and family of Paul, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Dwayn Hansen and family of Dietrich, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan (Arlene) Hodson and family of Plain City. Kim Checketts and his bride Susan Lynette Watkins were married last Friday in the Ogden temple. He is the son of Mario and Melba and she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernal M. Watkins of Ogden. They are going to live here after their return from their honeymoon. Out-of-to- Blood Needed Type 0 negative blood is needed at any of the Salt Lake City hospitals desperately. Any hospital will accept blood, possibly even the Ogden hospitals if you are able to donate this type of blood. There will be a Red Cross blood drive on Dec. 11 from at the Central school in Brigham. Please plan ahead for this drive. Our quota is 10 pints. 7 Mr. and Mrs. John Holmgren along with their son Chris and Mike Burt attending the Utah Beef Council convention in Salt Lake City last Wednesday. The bankers association awarded 20 certificates to the outstanding carcass from the June stock memshow to F.F.A. and bers. Mike and Chris each received one and Chris also was awarded a plaque for the top one of the 20. Clinton and Vida Burt were at two conventions recently. They attended the Farm Bureau convention two days, Nov. 19 and 20. Thursday evening of this convention there was a banquet held at the Hotel Hilton. Along with the Burts attending this was Bessie and Chester Christensen, Wanda and Vernon Johnsen and Curtis and Karen Christensen. 4-- Cattlemans Confab The Hotel Hilton was also the scene of the Cattlemens convention which the Burts also attended. Sunday evening the entire Burt family attended Sacra- ment meeting in Harper ward. It was a missionary testimonial for Brent Baugh. Janice Holmgren drove to Salt Lake City last Friday to have lunch with her daughter Candace who came up from the B.Y.U. They spent the afternoon shopping and strolling around Trolley Square. Freda Barker has resigned as organist of the choir. She is having allergy problems with her eyes. Jeff Gardner was ordained an elder at stake conference Sunday. He 'is the son of Frank Gardner. Blaine Anderson and Robert Nelson were released as first and second counselors of the Sunday school. Sustained were Robert Nelson, first counselor and Roger Dallin as second counselor. Mary Gardner and her daughter Stephanie were hostess for a tupperware party Thursday evening. Eleven ladies were there to enjoy the games and see the new ware that Mrs. Janet Adams presented. A lovely strawberry desert and drink were served to the ladies. Getting Prepared Sunday afternoon Dollie Iverson visited at the home of Rebecca Mortensen of Tremon-ton- . Mrs. Leona Nielson was there also from Honeyville. They spent the afternoon getting prepared for the program for the 75th anniversary of Elwood on Dec. 26 at the Elwood cultural hall. Mrs. Iverson also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Anderson for the same purpose as Mrs. Anderson is writing a history of Elwood. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Checketts and family of Sandy, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Checketts and baby, and Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Checketts both from Arizona and Margo Checketts from Ricks college were here for the Checketts-Watkin- EOX Garland Gaiette s wedding. Margo was a brides maid and the brothers were ushers. Bessie Christensen has been on the sick list, and Dewey Ramsdell is home again after a few days in the Tremonton hospital. Phyllis Lewis is also home after a weeks stay in the Salt Lake hospital. Gladys and Roy Thorsen visited with Rhea and Darwin Anderson on Sunday. Dixie Ramsdell and her sister Vickie Wilson drove their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wilson, back to New York where they have been called to dell served the refreshments to about 20 family members. Ramsdell, Arvilla Holmgren and her daughter Joyce Dahle-ber- g of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Clare Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Johnson.. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ramsdell of Blackfoot, Idaho, were here for the weekend. Mike Ramsdell from Salt Lake with his son Christopher were also here visiting family and friends. Christopher was the ring bearer at his cousin Kathys wedding. Loretta Daley of New Mexico who was in the missionary field with Bessie and Chester Christensen is now attending school at Weber State College. She spent the Thanksgiving weekend with the Christensens and they were very happy to have her. Loretta got to meet all of the Christensen family because they were all at Bessie and Chesters for turkey dinner. Lula Clayson left Saturday by plane for Colorado Springs where she will spend 10 days with her son Reed Clayson and his family. Club Held Club was held at Clytie Andersons in Elwood last Satur- day. The ladies there were Andrea Huggins, Winnie Jensen of Brigham City, Gladys Thorsen, Fern Arbon of Brigham City, Serretta Johnsen and Ivy Glazer of Willard. Mr. and Mrs. John Hardy gave a lovely program at the church last night. They have recently returned from the Nauvoo mission. Everyone who attended were very impressed with the program. Besides Jack and Alva giving talks, Jill Hardy from Corinne, daughter of Dee Hardy, played the piano. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Gylenskog, of Idaho Falls and Logan were missionary companions of the Hardys. 'Messiah' Mrs. Ruth Shumway A Brigham City girl, Becky Bennett, will be featured in a solo part when The Messiah is performed at Ricks college, this evening (Thursday). The choir sang in the Book of Mormon oratorio and will present its annual concert Saturday night.
