Show A BOX Good Cook ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, December 11, 1975 17 She baked to keep warm I by Flo Munson To help keep warm she learned to bake! As a new bride Mrs. Bryce (Lora Lee Udy) Hunsaker lived with her husband in Vanderhoof, British Columbia. My husband worked on a cattle ranch with his father, Lora Lee told me. If would go down to 64 degrees below zero and thats REALLY COLD! We had a pot bellied stove for heat, but I was still cold. Our house was small and it would crack and pop from the cold. I found when I did baking in the oven in my electric stove it helped to warm our house so I baked constantly. My husband gained 65 pounds in four months. I guess this is proof that Lora Lee is an exceptionally good cook. She spent her girlhood in Bothwell and graduated from Bear River High school and LDS seminary. She attended LDS Business college and was employed with the Internal Revenue in Ogden. Meetings in Car While living in Vanderhoof (where their first child Drew, who is now five, was born) Lora Lee tells of holding Relief Society meetings in a private car because there were such a few members and it required so much time to warm the church building to be comfortable. Vanderhoof is timber country, I she said. Mrs. Bryce Hunsaker . Have Small Daughter In addition to their son Drew they have a small daughter Karlene, just 18 months old. They also have a pretty foster daughter Alice Mathis, 17, living with them. Alice showed several of the lovely floor length gowns Lora Lee had fashioned for her for the junior prom, the senior hop, etc. They have that professional look! Lora Lee is employed three days each week as a posting machine operator for Porritts Business Service. She is a member of the Box Elder County Peace Officers Association Womens auxiliary. As a family the Hunsakers enjoy camping, fishing, trips to Canada and family parties. home at 306 South They have a lovely Tremont street in Tremonton. Apple dumplings are probably my husbands favorite dessert, Lora Lee laughed. She pointed out that Congress is the product of the Constitution, a collection of habits and prededents, and an electoral process. The struggle of men for political power coupled with the machinery aiding them in that struggle were pointed to as the factors that helped to make the system operate. It was also noted that the congressional processes are not fast, and that there is necessarily a diffusion of effort in Congress, which is the price paid in delays for the protection e offered by a legislature. She added that in partnership with the president, the Congress is the caretaker of individual liberties. She looked at the ancient Greek civilizations and their ideas of laws to be made by citizens, and then to the teachings of the Apostle Paul that all men are equal. Both these concepts helped to influence the course of history in establishing the American nation. She ended with a quotation by John M.
