' Intramurals offer students chance to compete in many sports for people who like to participate in intramural activities but don't have the time to compete all quarter. The activity begins on a Friday evening and continues on Saturday and Sunday until a champion is crowned. Officials are needed for events like flag football, soccer and volleyball. Individuals with previous experience or an interest to learn and be involved are encouraged to apply. The pay begins at $3.45 per hour. By Dave Hosicx Chronicle staff writer iThe University of Utah's Intramural Office offers stu dents, facutly and staff the opportunity to compete in a competitive yet relaxed atmosphere. Intramural activities are open to all students with a current student I.D. and facility, staff, and alumni with campus recreation membership cards. Entries will be accepted at the Intramural Office at Health, Physical Education and Recreation East Room 214 from the last week of the previous quarter until the entry deadline. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. An entry fee and a refundable forfeit deposit must be turned in with the entry form. The entry fees are non- refundable if forfeits occur. ; Individuals participate in intramural activities at their own risk. A personal health insurance policy Is each individual's responsibility and is strongly suggested. ' Autumn quarter events include soccer, flag football, wallyball, floor hockey, a softball volleyball, h basketball, the tournament, Napoleon tournament (open to basketball players under 6 feet tall) and the McGuire Open golf tournament. f Other fall activities include the Creep, Club and Croak, a midnight golf tournament, a squash tournament, the 5K Wild Goose Chase, a badminton tournament and a weekend tennis tournament. Also offered this fall are seven events which provide students the opportunity to travel to compete in the Association of College Unions International Regional table Competition. The events are bowling, racquetball, darts. tennis, backgammon, chess, billiards and .Winners will have the opportunity to qualify for ' regional tournament competition. and football 'Traditional fall events like soccer, flag golf offer teams and individuals the opportunity to compete for titles and awards, but other events, like the Creep, Crawl and Croak Club and the weekend tennis tournament, re unique. The Creep, Crawl and Croak Club is for people who like to run, bike andor swim. The number of miles covered each week is charted on map in the campus recreation office. When participants reach a predetermined and become number of miles, they are awarded a official members of tne club.
