'Fantasticks' hits the Egyptian stage Continued from B-5 ly hurt, that she has more of an appreciation for Matt and feels a real love for him." Warren Holz, also making his Egyptian Theatre debut, is looking forward to bringing the bandit El Gallo to life. Dressed in a silky forest-green forest-green ruffled shirt, tight black pants, suspenders and topped with a wide-brimmed black hat. he exudes romance as well as mystery. Holz describes El Gallo as manipulative, "like a puppeteer, and the ingenues are the puppets." He notes it is a curious paradox, since the bandit causes the rift between the two lovers, but at the same time, is the one who orchestrates their reunion. "El Gallo is the player and presenter of the balance, the truth." theorizes Holz. "Truth is pain. too. It is the balance of society Happiness is not just the sugar-coated side happiness can come through sorrow." Holz describes "The Fantasticks" as an "incredibly touching tale about life." It does have a moral, yet he says, it is still captivating and real. "The Fantasticks" is timeless script which continues con-tinues to attract generations to its poignant and humorous story. It's well-known musical score includes memorable favorites like "Try to Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Be Rain." Keiter points out one possible exception though. With the song "Rape." which introduces Luisa's abduction, the word was intended to be used in the context of its literal dictionary definition, w hich is "to seize and carry off by force." The playwrights later altered the introductory scene to make sure there would be no confusion about the meaning. PCP's cast for "The Fantasticks" also includes Steve Phillips. Larry Webb. Michael Boswell. Kirt Bateman and Jerry Rapier. Musical direction direc-tion is by Kevin Mathie.
