Robyn Leary, director of the Utah Film and Video Center National program offers funds to artists The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) has made nearly $300,000 in unrestricted cash awards and $3 million in college scholarship opportunities available to talented young artists through its annual Arts Recognition and Talent Search (ARTS). Open to high school seniors and other 17- and 18-year-olds, ARTS identifies and awards our nation's most accomplished artists. The remaining award recipients who do not participate in ARTS Week, but are deemed worthy of recognition, earn $100 honorable mention awards. Up to 50 of the top ARTS award recipients will be nominated by NFAA to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars for designation as the 1995 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, the highest honor bestowed on graduating American high school seniors who excel in the arts. Ultimately, 20 will be chosen for this prestigious award and honored at a White House ceremony during National Recognition Week in June.
