Show Austin Rice Austin Rice, 85, of Hillsboro, Ore., died June 23, 1990, at Oak Villa Care Center. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints in Hillsboro. Interment was in the Fir Lawn Cemetery. - Rice was bom Feb. 20, 1905 in Farmington, a son of David and Olean Smith Rice, on Dec. 12, 1930. He married Annie Luc in a ' Steward in Salt Lake City, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS ;Temple June 29, 1970. Rice lived in Centerville and Farmington in Utah before moving to Vemonia, Ore. in 1947. He . worked for Oregon American Lumber Company. He moved to Hillsboro, Ore. in ; 1967 and became a farmer. He served in the cavalry unit of the Utah National Gurd. He was a member of the Evergreen Ward, where he was a high priest. Survivors include six sons, Thomas C. Rice and Lemual Rice, both of Forest Grove, Ore. ; Glenn Rice, Carlton, Ore.; Austin Rice Jr., Kaysville; Irvin Rice, Portland, Ore.; and Lynn Rice, Cornelius, Ore.; and five daughters, Clara Surber, Ontario; Margaret Kouva, Portland, Ore.; May Criswell, Sun City, Calif.; Myrtle Montgomery, Oceanside, Calif.; and Carol Kent, Forest Grove. Also surviving are 39 grandchildren; grand-children; 49 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Barnes, Kaysville; Kays-ville; and Isabelle Aamodt, Bountiful; Boun-tiful; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandchild and one greatgrandchild. |
