Show John Dallas Pruitt He is survived by his wife, Louise, Ogden; three sons, John D. Jr. and his wife Margaret, Leamington, Leam-ington, Utah; Michael R. and his wife Roxanne, Phoenix, Ariz.; William H., Salt Lake City, two daughters, Mrs. Jese (Chere) Ruiz, Lynndyl, Utah; Mrs. Tim (Robin A.) Nickerson, Monterey, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Leiia Wood, Danielsville, Ga.; Gladys Purcell, Kannapolis, N.C.; Mrs. James (Mary Ruth) Hudson, Macon, Ga. He was preceded in death by Lucille Wages and Elbertice Purcell. Funeral services will be held June 20, at 12 noon, at the Hillcrest Sixth Ward chapel, 1035 S. 800 E., Orero. A final viewing will be held 10:45 a.m.-ll:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment in the Provo City Cemetery. Funeral directors, Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary. John Dallas Pruitt, Captain U.S. Navy Retired, age 68, died June 15, 1990 as a result of a traffic accident. He was bom Aug. 26, 1921 in Danielsville, Ga. to John Joe and Nezzie Mary Catherine Haggard Pruitt. He married Louise Rhodes of Charlotte, N.C. Aug. 24, 1946. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served in the Pacific during World War II and continued his long and distinguished career in the , U.S. Navy for a total of 39 and a half years. During his service in the U.S. Navy, he was awarded the following: Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, American Campaign Cam-paign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Cam-paign Medal with two stars and the Meritorious Service Medal. His last assignment was as Commanding Officer at the U.S. Naval Hospital ' in Annapolis Maryland, a He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and his wife were currently ;; employed at the Harrison-Regent in 1 Ogden as co-managers. He served in many capacities in . the LDS Church including bishop's counselor, branch president, ward clerk and temple worker in Provo and St. George. Much of his efforts were directed toward genealogical research. He was an avid reader with a special interest in American and religious history. |
