Show UPS driver robbed in NSL By EDEN BODILY NORTH SALT LAKE-An armed arm-ed man threatened and robbed a UPS driver during a delivery run in North Salt Lake's industrial park just before 5 p.m. Thursday. The unidentified man appeared to be jogging, but jumped onto the truck as it slowed to make a turn at 1000 West and Center Street. He then threatened the driver with a small handgun and demanded money, said North Salt Lake Police Detective Sgt. Paul Arnold. The driver complied with the robber's demands, but "began to fear for his life as he left the building area' and jumped out of the truck, Arnold said. The truck went off the road and into a ravine with the robber still aboard. Apparently unhurt, the robber ran from the ravine to a waiting silver compact car with a Utah license plate. The driver made a U-turn and sped east on Center Street Arnold urged anyone who had seen a silver compact with one or two passengers to tell the police immediately. 'There's a good chance we can solve (the case) if we can come up with some good leads," he said. "If there's anyone in the area that might have seen anything I'd appreciate them coming forward." He said officers have interviewed people at the area businesses, but they presently have no good leads. The robber is described as between be-tween 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with medium brown, medium length hair, and is about 35 to 40 years old. He was last seen wearing a maroon rain jacket, dark dress slacks and glasses. |
