Show Allen selected for European concert tour L , - '-a I ; - i. X ' . 4 : .. -. P - Melanie Allen, Bountiful, has been accepted for membership in the United States Collegiate Wind Band, a highly selective national musical organization, which will make a three-week concert tour of Europe next July. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Alien. She is a member of the Viewmont High School Band, conducted con-ducted by Mike Murphy. The invitation to perform with the U.S. Collegiate Wind Band was received from Dr. Al G. Wright, director di-rector emeritus, Purdue University, Lafayette, Ind., in recognition of her excellent musical activity in the Viewmont school band. The United States Collegiate Wind Band will perform a series of concerts throughout Europe and England and will appear on several important concerts stages in Paris, Lugano, Munich, Innsbruck, Lugano and Vemona. Acceptance for membership in this highly talented group of young musicians is considered an important impor-tant musical honor of national significance. In addition to their concert appearances, ap-pearances, members of the group will visit a number of Europe's MELANIE ALLEN musical shrines including Mozart's birth place in Salzburg, Austria; Beethoven's house in Bonn, West Germany; and Richard Wagner's house in Lucerne, Switzerland. They will also attend the famous outdoor opera in Verona, a symphony sym-phony orchestra concert in London's Lon-don's Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Tournament in Earlscourt, London. |
