Show Recycling helps Bountiful celeorate Earth Day V If - W r . ; 5 J - M " ,'. " 1 ' ; I The Bountiful Recycling Program Pro-gram has been a tremendous success. There has been a steady increase in-crease in volume of materials over the past six months. Proceeds generated ge-nerated from the recycling program purchased two flowering cherry trees which were planted next to the public safety building on National Recycling day, April 17. In a press conference that day, Celestia Brunsdale, Recycling Committee chairwoman, stated, "Bountiful is turning trash into trees, and litter into leaves. ' ' William Lampe, general manager of Independent Paper Stock, said, 'Everybody in this state is looking at Bountiful' s program. There is an amazing interest in it. I get calls from all over the state inquiring about it." Two hundred blue spruce trees were planted in Mueller Park as part of the Earth Day celebration April 21. The Bountiful Recycling Program Pro-gram was one of four environmental environmen-tal programs in Utah recognized nationally by Renew America in April. The main Bountiful recycling center is located in the parking lot of the Municipal Building, 790 S. 100 E., Bountiful. It has expanded to include: Tin cans: cans must be rinsed, labels are OK. Corrugated cardboard: boxes need to be flattened and placed in bin. Do not put in any cardboard that is not corrug ated Glass: bottles in clear, green and brown must be separated at the site. Please rinse, labels OK, remove lids. Plastics: milk jugs, two liter pop bottles, liquid soap containers, bleach bottles and water jugs only. (Do not bring food containers, bags, styrofoam or miscellaneous plastics.) The recycler can only accept ac-cept a few grades of plastic. Your cooperation will be appreciated. . Newspaper: newspapers only. Do not put plastic bags or paper bags into the bin. No magazines or phone books.
