Show By Bountiful City Council Traffic control devices approved By PALL CHALLIS News Editor BOUNTIFUL The City Council recently approved several traffic control devices as recommended recom-mended by the Bountiful Traffic Safety Committee. The council OK'd the installation of flashing yellow warning lights at 50 West and 1800 South, near Bountiful Elementary School in a school crossing zone. Also approved were "no parking" park-ing" signs at three locations in Bountiful near pedestrian crossing locations. The new signs will be installed in-stalled at 200 South Main, 150 North Nor-th Main and 50 North Main. The committee reported to the council that parked cars in all three locations were blocking the view of traffic and endangering pedestrians trying to cross the street. The council coun-cil also approved the painting of warning lines on the street at all three locations 15 feet before the crossing area. Bountiful officials also OK'd placing ' school zone 20 mph signs between a set of flashing yellow warning lights on Orchard Drive from 800 South to 1000 South, near Millcreek Junior High SchooL Parents and school officials are concerned that cars are not slowing down in the area and students are in danger of crossing the street on the way to school. All of the new installed signs and warning devices will cost the city $2,200 to complete. In other action, the council released easement restrictions on three lots in the Granada Hills subdivision sub-division to the LDS church for the future construction of a new temple. With the approval of easement restrictions by Bountiful, the LDS ft church must still negotiate with the . telephone company tor rights to ; -those easements. ', The council also appointed ; ' retired Utah Power & Light executive ex-ecutive Arvin S. Gibson to the " ; BountifuTs Power Commission. ; Gibson was an executive vice '. president with Utah Power & Light, ! ; '. responsible for power plant and ' ' ' transmission system operati before stepping down from duties. - Preliminary and final approval for a three-story addition to South Davis Hospital was also given by the council. According to City Planner Jon Reed Boothe, the hospital had submitted similar plans one year ago to the council for the new addition. "The hospital is awaiting financing financ-ing before starting the project this spring' Boothe said. |
