Show Anonymous calls welcomed TOOELE Two separate rewards have been posted for information infor-mation on the shooting of two pregnant cows that cost one farmer an estimated $3,000. The Utah Farm Bureau Federation is offering $1,000 and the Utah Cattlemen's Association is offering an unspecified amount for information in-formation in the case. Plus, Bureau of Land Management officials are concerned because the killings occurred on public land. The agency has offered its 24-hour 24-hour rip hotline for any individual who may want to report the incident inci-dent and remain anonymous. The three groups hope for an arrest and conviction in the case. "Two pregnant beef cows were killed with a nine millimeter handgun han-dgun in Tooele County's Rush Valley... states a Utah Farm Bureau press release. Speculation is that the perpetrators may have butchered the animal to salvage some of the meat. But they were probably scared off by an approaching car. Wally Wickham, Tooele County animal control officer, said this is at least the third local cattle killing incident in recent months. Last fall two cows were shot along the Mormon Trail and others were shot in Ophir Canyon. Anonymous calls will be welcomed. |
