Show New soccer fields fWbdds Gross By JANIS STUART WOODS CROSS-South Davis Soccer Association members, coaches, scouts and soccer players turned up to support their request to be allowed use of the 1200 West Park for the Soccer Association. One scout wants to earn his Eagle Scout Award by organizing and completing.the"set-up of two soccer fields at the Park. Norm Hasset, commissioner of fields, explained that the scouts would be under adult supervision during each step of the project The project had been well researched resear-ched and the presenters quoted costs for augers, back-hoes and goal , posts. They felt two fields could be completed for approximately $350. The scouts have been offered $700 for the project from a soccer enthusiast en-thusiast who feels strongly about the young soccer players having an appropriate field to play on. After conferring, the council members offered a motion, not only to allow the use of the park, but to contribute the cost of equipment and labor as Woods Cross's part of the project. The motion was unanimously approved. As the husky young soccer players were thanking the council members. Mayor Argyle said, "Perhaps we could challenge you to a game sometime in the future." The team coach replied, "You had better watch a couple of games first This is a championship team. In fact as long as we are here, we could also use a trophy case.' ' Mayor Argyle asked the young men if they were going to win another an-other trophy this year. The replies . were, "No problem," No doubt about it" and "Of course," The council agreed to take the matter of a trophy case into consideration. |
