Centerville All-Stars take Second at state I By TOM HARALDSEN ; S porta Editor CENTERVILLE-All stars from the Centerville Baseball League entered the state AAU Under 25 : tofimament this year.: Some of the very best players in the state were in the 12-team field, and the Centerville Center-ville Mets came home with a fine second place finish. It was a different team of Centerville Center-ville Mets which won the Pony League championship in Center ville, finishing the season with a ' , r.:r'-'- ... , :r- . : .... 21-1 record. The Mets also won the Pony Tournament title, taking a 7-6 victory in the finals in extra innings.. The Mets beat the Braves for the - crown. ' The team was coached by Brian Breese and Steve Evans. The Centerville Pony league had 12 teams with 144 participants. As always, Centerville' s program was . excellent again this summer. Hor-ton Hor-ton Hess has retired as president of the league after many years of dedicated serviceand residents and participants alike owe him a great deal of gratitude for his efforts. Lee Duncan is the new president and will preside beginning next summer. |
