Show Tokyo students have chance to study Three years ago, a principal from a well-known high school in suburban subur-ban Tokyo, Mr. Kawabata, visited several U.S. and Canadian cities. The purpose of his trip was to determine de-termine where to send students eager to learn English and to experience expe-rience glimpses of American life. After a thorough investigation, he decided on Salt Lake City because of safety, the beautiful natural environment, en-vironment, good educational institutions, institu-tions, and the warm hospitality he felt from Utahns. As a frial basis, nearly 80 students came last summer for a three-week crash course in English. The program was an overwhelming success. Impressed with what Utah actually did offer, the principal decided to create a three-year college col-lege prep course that included one year , study in American high schools. The creation of mis new course was announced last year and among many applicants, 40 students were carefully selected. This new program pro-gram is so unique that the class was spotlighted on a morning TV show.
