Show Strong Company begins work on earthen dam Strong Company, local contractors, con-tractors, have begun work in clearing trees from the site of the new Silver Lake Flat Dam in American Fork Canyon. The earth-fill dam will be 390,000 cubic yard fill and will cost $1,157,672.35. Its reservoir will provide a permanent conservation con-servation pool of 120 acre feet and 920 acre feet for irrigation irriga-tion storage and flood control. The dam is the last large structure to be built as part of the American Fork-Dry Creek Watershed Project. Completion Com-pletion date is set for the fall of 1971. The U.S. Soil Conservation service is providing engineering services with Phillip (Skip) Nelson Nel-son being the project engineer. engi-neer. Carl Clark will be the inspector in-spector and both men are from Lehi. Leo P. Harvey, Pleasant Grove, is chairman of the North Utah County Water Conservancy Con-servancy District, administrator administra-tor of the project. |
