The season was one of the Devils better years in the win and loss column and had they not had their star player, Lynn Allan injured and unable to play in the last two contests, may have been in the playoffs. The gridders will now turn their attention to basketball and the wrestling sport which will get underway in the next few weeks. Lions tough Payson held the edge over the Devils following their first touchdown in the first quarter when Carter recovered a fumble. The Lions made five of five conversions, starting with the very first T.D. They scored again in the first quarter quar-ter from four yards out. A 27-yard 27-yard run set up the third score and then Horn recovered another Springville fumble and added to a 35-yard pass play to Stewart, the Lions hit pay dirt again. Springville tackled a Payson player in the end zone for two points and following fol-lowing another score by Pay-son, Pay-son, the Devils ran it over with Clyde scoring just before the final gun. Coach Mike Jacobsen has exhibited ex-hibited some outstanding ball playing during the season with his eleven and while they did not win the region, their play and improvement this year has been commendable.
