Since my discharge from the Army, I have had a deep desire to help the beautiful city in which we live. Springville has afforded me and my wife a wonderful place to raise our children. Through the past 24 years in business as owner and manager of Anderson's Furniture Co., I have known the problems that have faced Springville. I have been closely associated with almost every mayor and city councilman during these years. My experience has covered many areas of qualification to serve you as a city councilman. I was called by the Utah State Banking Commissioner to assist with the liquidation of Utah Savings and Loan Company with some $29,000,000 in assets, and representing some 10,000 share holders all over the nation. This assignment is now nearly completed. I have been a home builder and land developer in this city. I have been successful in my own business. I feel that I can accomplish this same success also for Springville City. I have always been a financial conservative. I would work diligently to hold the taxes down in Springville and at the same time keep an eye toward the progression progres-sion of needed utilities for the people. To do something for the youth of this city is a goal I have worked for continually. It is my thinking that the responsibility of this city-is city-is in providing areas to occupy their time for good development. This CAN be done. At the same time, we need support of more stringent law enforcement and action on the part of city officials to curb the use of drugs and narcotics. This also MUST BE DONE! In leadership capacities I have worked with thousands of men, making great strides with cooperative efforts. In the church, I served as bishop of the Sixth Ward and also as a high councilor in the Springville Stake. I served as president of the Springville Chamber of Commerce bringing into the city a garment industry for the manufacturing manu-facturing of textiles. This was later lost. The promotion of the ground for industrial manufacturing now sold to the BYU was worked on during our time in office. I will continue to assist BYU in any vay with this development. I am available at any time to serve as a public servant. My time is my own. I am physically able and desirous of receiving your support sup-port on November 4 and will dedicate myself to the service of this community. MAYS W. ANDERSON Pflid pol. icjv. by Mays Ancjerson |
