Show Final tributes paid Vern Bird Funeral services were held Saturday in the Third-Ninth Ward for Vern Bird, 76, former Springville resident, who died November 25, 1968, at his home in Los Angeles. Interment was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery, directed by the Wheeler Mortuary. He was born September 20, 1892, in Springville, a son of Amasa and Mary Louise Whitehead Bird. He married Cora Thorn on September 6, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Bird was a high priest in the LDS Church. He was a graduate of Utah State University and the Minnesota Min-nesota School of Forestry. In his early life he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and later was employed as a salesman for the Cache Knitting Knit-ting Mills. Prior to his retirement retire-ment he was an agent for American National Life Insurance Insur-ance Co. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow of Los Angeles; and three sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Jessie) Goates of Las Altos, California; Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph (Louise) Harmon of La Habra, California, and Mrs. William (Margaret) Grooms of Salt Lake City. |
