Show Toce of Democracy' event set The local finals for the annual Voice of Democracy contest of the veterans of Foreign Wars will be held tonight at Memorial Hall club room at 7:30 p.m. according ac-cording to an announcement by Leonard Zobell, Comman der of the Springville VFW Post 5787. The winner will represent Post 5787 at the district finals to be held in January. Commander Zobell stated that this is the 22nd annual Voice of Democracy contest sponsored by the Veterans Veterans of Foreign Wars and co-sponsored by the Ladies La-dies Auxiliary to the VFW. The National and State Association As-sociation of Broadcasters cooperate co-operate in this contest by assisting in the taping of the scripts. The theme for the script for this year's contest is to encourage high school students to think and express ex-press themselves about our democratic way of life. Prizes are awarded to the winners at the local, district, dis-trict, state and national level. At the local and district dis-trict level the top three are given awards of savings bonds, pins and certificates. The first place winner from each of the six VFW districts in the state of Utah Compete Com-pete for savings bonds and other awards. The first place winner in the state is awarded an all-expense paid trip to Washington D. C. in March and will compete there for five scholarships totaling $13,500 with the top prize being a $5,000 scholarship. -Mr. Zobell extends an in- -vitation to the public to attend at-tend these local finals and to hear the outstanding scripts entered by Springville Spring-ville high school students.
