Show Ex-Mapleton resident's services held Final rites were held Monday at the Berg Mortuary Chapel in Provo, for Hazel Evans Whiting Whit-ing Bailey, 79, of Provo, and long time resident of Mapleton, who died November 28, 1968 in an Orem rest home of causes incident to age. Burial was in ; the Springville Evergreen Cem- I etery. ' She was born October 19, 1889 in Spanish Fork, a daughter of David Reece and Ida Bernice Matson Evans. She married George Clinton Whiting on June 1, 1908 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died August 18, 1928. She married Thomas A. (Bert) Bailey on October 26. ! 1936. He died January 29, j! 1962. j After her first marriage she j; lived in Mapleton where Mr. i Whiting was a farmer. She re- j sided in Mapleton until 1935 when she moved to Provo. She was active in the church serving in the Primary, Relief Re-lief Society, and on the genealogy gen-ealogy committee. She worked as a practical nurse at the Utah State Hospital from 1930 until 1954. Survivors include one son and five daughters: Ronald C. Whiting. Whi-ting. Blackfoot, Idaho; Mrs. John W. (Loleta) Steel, Missoula, Mis-soula, Mont.; Mrs. Albert (Blanche) Love, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Glen (Fae) Molton, Provo; Mrs. Charles (Elaine) Renther, Santa Cruz, California; Califor-nia; and Mrs. Lewis (Lavon) Maiben, Casper, Wyoming; two step-sons and two stepdaughters, step-daughters, Clifford Bailey and Mrs. Don (Faye) Sorensen, both of Pro vp ; Thomas Eugene Bailey, Washington, and Mrs. Bill (Marie) Lotz, San Mateo, California; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and one brother and eight sisters: Rola D. Evans, Layton; Mrs. Alta Phillips, Vernal; Mrs. Georgia Plumlee, Mapleton; Mrs. Eva Thurman and Mrs. Teressa Burgi, both of Provo; Mrs. Jack (Vera) Houghton, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Mary Diamond Dia-mond and Mrs. Lula Burgi, both of Salt Lake City, and Mis. Mo veil (Ida) Seeley, Ogden. Og-den. New York became the 11th state to enter the Union when ,t ratified the U.S. Constitution July 26, 1788. |
