Show property; new city ordinance booEi printed At the regular meeting of the Springville City Council held Monday Feb. 19, in the council chambers of the civic civ-ic center, business was taken ta-ken up in the following order, or-der, according to report by Recorder Verl S. Dallin: A group of county residents resi-dents living on the Canyon Road met with the council in regard to upgrading fire protection along their roadway road-way as recommended by the fire department. With a joint effort of the county, city and the residents involved in-volved a program can be worked out to accomplish this by placing three fire hydants at proper intervals from the city limits to the Thirty Oaks Ranch area it was stated. A representative of the group is to report action on this proposal at - the regular- council meeting March 4. Mrs. Pete Morgan met with the council in regard to dancing at the Memorial Hall Saturday evenings. She proposed that the city license li-cense the dance over a year period rather than on a nightly basis as provided by ordinance. Also that the age limit be changed ' and some other rules and regulations regula-tions were discussed. The council unanimously agreed to maintain the rules, regulations regu-lations and licensing as provided pro-vided in the new city ordinances. ordi-nances. Martin Conover of the Art City Publishing Company Com-pany met with the council and presented the new City Ordinance Books just completed. com-pleted. Calvin Woodward of the Sixth Ward Elders proposed that the city rent a float especially es-pecially built for the city to be shown in parades throughout the area during the coming season. CI. Creer made a motion with a second sec-ond by CI. James that the city accept their -offer on the same rental basis as last year and this action passed unanimously. CI. Peay made a motion with a second by CI. Baxter that Taylor Reynolds be appointed ap-pointed to the City Plan ning Commission. This action ac-tion passed unanimously. The mayor reported the resignat ion of Margaret Conover as chairman of the City Beautification Committee. Commit-tee. The Recorder was instructed in-structed to write a letter of appreciation for the fine work she has accomplished on this committee. The council unanimously agreed that the police chief and his department be given giv-en full authority to carry out the ordinances as pertaining per-taining to the sale of tobacco, tobac-co, either through vending machinees or over the counter. coun-ter. Peay that a letter be written to Ted Diamond informing him that the city will exercise the option in the purchase of his canyon property. This motion passed unanimously. The council unanimously approved retaining the Peat, Marwich and Mitchell Auditing Au-diting Firm to do the audit for the fiscal year 1967-1968. |
