Show 'Old Glory7 should fly en official cloys Citizens are being reminded remind-ed that official days in which Old Glory should be flown include Washington's Birthday, Feb. 22; Jefferson Day, April 13; Law Day USA, May 1; Loyalty Day, May 1; Armed Forces Day, May 3; Memorial Day, May 30. By all patriotic standards the flag should be flown on Flag Day, June 14 and also Independence Day, July 4; V-J Day, August 14; Labor Day, Sept. 2; Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28; Veteran's Day, Nov. 11; Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7 and Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Hang properly The flag should always have stars to the left of the picture, floating to the right. When hanging with stripes in a vertical position against the wall, the stars should be in the upper left hand corner. When displayed on a speakers platform, it should be above and behind the speaker with the stars to the left of the facing audience. au-dience. Besides the dates listed above, the flag should be displayed on state holidays and such days as may be proclaimed by the president. On Memorial Day it should be half staffed until noon. It is the custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on flagstaffs in the open, but it should not be displayed display-ed on days when the weather wea-ther is inclement according to instruction based on Public Pu-blic Law 829, 77th Congress. Citizens are invited to observe ob-serve the dates for the display dis-play of the flag, which shows an interest in and devotion de-votion to their country, it was pointed out. |
