Show Wove old cars show added to celebration A novel "old car" show, with unusual competitions scheduled for the car owners is planned for the first annual Springville Art City Days celebration June 22-24. Terry Young of the Utah Valley Old Car Club reports that invitations are being sent out to clubs from Logan to St. George, inviting them to enter the show on Saturday of the celebration. Mr. Young reports that the cars will be lined up for inspection inspec-tion from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Springville Spring-ville Civic Center. Activities will get underway at 1 p.m. and will include such novelty events as aj baloon-bursting event with the old cars; balloon spearing with the car owners driving and their partners spearing gas balloons; a cranking contest; club relays, precision driving, and a family album contest. In the latter event the entire family must dress according to the year of the car. Judging contest A restoration judging contest will also be conducted, with the winner receiving a trophy given in memory of Dean Prothero, Springville old car enthusiast. Trophies, plaques, ribbons, and certificates will be presented present-ed for all the novelty events, as well as for the driver who drives his vehicle the greatest distance to participate in the meet. Leonard James, general chairman of the Springville Art City Days celebration, reports that new events are being added add-ed to the three-day celebration schedule. Thursday events On Thnrsdav n fthp wepk a three-day exhibition of local art will open at the civic center, as will a three-diy golf tournament tourna-ment at the new Hobble Creek Golf Course. HUle League baseball base-ball games are scheduled, and carnival and concession stands will be open. Highlight of Thursday will be a special awards banquet centered on the theme, "Artists of Life." Five awards will be given away to outstanding citizens citi-zens of the community and to one outstanding service organization. organi-zation. Friday schedule On Friday, the city merchants are planning a sidewalk bazaar, and in the afternoon there will be a barbecue, band concert, schedule will be a production of the play, "Down to Earth" each night by the Springville Playhouse in the theatre-in-the-round at the civic center.
