Show Hundreds of BYU students join in clean-up of city Wednesday Thanks to the cooperation of the BYU students, the city and the beautification committee, Springville was litterally buzzing buz-zing all morning Wednesday with workers. One thousand students were at the Hobble Creek golf course assisting in further clean-up work there. At Kelly's Grove 300 more students were involved involv-ed cleaning the camping areas and grove. 100 students were at North Park painting bleachers bleach-ers and 200 more workers were assisting the beautification committee in assigned projects. Projects which were handled by these students for the beautification beau-tification committee included the following: razing an old shed at the Solon Wood property proper-ty and assisting in the lot cleaning; cleaning up the remains re-mains of the Ike Palfreyman home which was torn down by the church Monday at 300 East and Center; razing the Kelsey home at 29 South 300 East; removing re-moving the old house at 1006 South 400 East; cleaning property pro-perty at 200 North Main; cleaning clean-ing on 800 South and Main, raking and cleaning the city cemetery; working on the banks of Hobble Creek from 100 East to 200 East; cleaning the vacant va-cant lot on 750 East Center and removing an old building at 700 East Center and cleaning the lot; cleaning of the roadway road-way that leads to the North Park from Main Street west. The large bam at 200 North and 400 East was burred under the supervision of the fire department de-partment on Monday. Councilman Leonard James was in charge of arrangements for the volunteer BYU help city trucks will haul away the trash. Officials in charge express ex-press appreciation to the help given by the BYU students and other workers during the cleanup clean-up day Wednesday. |
