Show Astronaut will speak here at high school assembly Monday H Dr. Don Lind, Utah-born astronaut, as-tronaut, will speak at a public assembly at the SpringviUe High School in the high school gymnasium, Monday May 8, at 11 a.m. Mr. Lind, a native of Murray, is one of 19 astronauts selected select-ed by NASA in April 1966. He is currently involved in training train-ing for future manned space flights. He attended school In Mid-vale Mid-vale and graduated from Jordan Jor-dan High School, received the B. S. degree with high honors m physics at University of Utah in 1953 and the Ph.D. degree de-gree in high energy nuclear physics in 1964 from University of California at Berkeley. Before his selection as an astronaut, Dr. Lind worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a space physicist. Previous to this, he worked at the Lawrence Radiation Radia-tion Laboratory, Berkeley. He holds the rank of lieutenant lieuten-ant commander in the U. S. Naval Reserve. He served four years on active duty with the Navy, received his wings in 1955, and was assigned aboard the carrier USS Hancock. Dr. Lind is a member of the American Geophysical Union, American Physical Society and Phi Kappa Phi. He married Kathleen Maughan of Logan, and they have five sons and daughters.
