Show t t t i i C of C pious installation banquet for Wednesday Kenneth Metcalf, affiliated with Berg Mortuary will be installed in-stalled as president of the Springville Chamber of Commerce Com-merce during ceremonies to be held Wednesday, January 18, at 7:30 p.m., at the art building. build-ing. He succeeds Jack Allen, retiring president. Hugh Gardner Gard-ner will serve as vice president. George Bird is retiring vice president. Yvonne B. Johnson is executive secretary. Her office of-fice is appointive. New two-year directors who will serve for the next biennium include Edwin Johnson, Martin Conover, J. Melvin Duke, La-Vell La-Vell Brown, and Jimmy Peay. Holdover directors are Marva Taylor, Champ Allen, Rex Anderson, An-derson, Ned Shoell, Paul Beals, and Bernell Thorn. Retiring from the board are Dr. Glade Y. Creer, Audrey Miner, Robert Sumsion, and Taylor Burt. Emaunel A. Floor, director of Institutional Development at the Utah State University, Logan, Lo-gan, and former director of the Utah Travel Council, will be the featured speaker at the annual an-nual affair. Mr. Floor is a native of Salt Lake and an honor graduate of the University of Utah in 1957. He has held positions with the Utah Travel Council, David W. Evans and Associates, advertising ad-vertising concern, Salt Lake Tribune, and was director of promotional news and sales de velopment for KSL TV. In his present position at the USU he supervises University Univer-sity news and public service activities; Universit y-iiigh school relations, entertainment bureau, University Speakers Bureau; University Development Develop-ment which includes all phases of obtaining devel o p m e n t, scholarship and endow m e n t funds for the University, and University Alumni. He is active in the American Red Cross and serves on the board of directors, Salt Lake County; Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. Also while a student of the U of U he served as editor of the year book; president, senior class, was named "Most Outstanding Out-standing Student" in economics econom-ics at the University by the Wall Street Journal, and elected elec-ted to Beehive, highest honorary honor-ary society, all in 1957. He is a member of the Roman Ro-man Catholic Church, Cathedral Cathed-ral Parish; is married and has one son. All iinterested in Springville and her future development are invited to attend the affair and are asked to call the Chamber office by Monday, January 16, for reservation. (489-4681) |
