Show Cougars trounce Aggies 115-81; take week's rest A hard-earned rest awaits BYTJ's cagers for the balance of the month, but it may be that the Cougars will need all the time they can get to recoup re-coup for the final weeks of the campaign. Following last Saturday's 115-81 wiin over Utah State, Coach Stan Watts told his charges to take a rest. The Cougars won't return to the practice hardwoods until Friday. Fri-day. When they return to action, however, it will be a "must" game in Salt Lake City against WAC leader, University of Utah. A showdown with the Utes is scheduled for Feb. 5, on the Utah floor. A cougar loss, which would mean another an-other Redskin win, would vault the Utes into a commanding lead. With the exception of one lost weekend on the road which cost the Cougars two games in the league standings, the BYU season has more than measured up to expectations. The Cougars Cou-gars are 11-3 for the season, and at this point can't be counted coun-ted out of the running for the WAC title. When they return to action in February, the Cougars will play two road games (Utah and Utah State) before return- ing to Provo for an intersec-tional intersec-tional game with Denver. A mid-February series with the Arizona schools will bring the Cougars back into road play, and they will wind up the season with home games against New Mexico, Wyoming Wyom-ing and Utah. |
