Show Mapleton plans annual hike to Monument Peak The Mapleton recrea t i o n board announces that the annual an-nual hike to Monument Peak will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, with weather permitting. The hike will start at 8 a.m. and cash prizes will be given to the first girl and the first boy to reach the top. Anyone wishing wish-ing to compete for the prizes must register at the starting point in Maple Canyon in order or-der to be eligible. There will be badges at the top for everyone who reaches the summit. The autumn leaves are at the heighth of their beauty this week, and the hike in the fall air should be a most pleasant pleas-ant experience for anyone who joins in. Everyone is invited to come and cook breakfast in the canyon and spend the day in the moutains. Whiting Forest For-est Camp just below the starting start-ing point has excellent accommodations accom-modations for campers and pic-nicers. pic-nicers. Ora Pate Stewart will be the featured speaker in the Sunday Sun-day evening service of the Mapleton Ma-pleton Ward Church, Oct. 3, beginning at 5 p.m. Mrs. Stewart, Stew-art, well known author, has just completed a book on Miss Ettie Lee, founder of the Ettie Lee home for boys, one of which is in Mapleton. |
