Show Kokenee eggs being hatched Some one million kokanee eggs obtained by the Department Depart-ment of Fish and Game are currently being hatched at the Department's Midway anc Springville Hatcheries for distribution dis-tribution in State waters. The kokanee is considered a bonus fish by Department fisheries fish-eries personnel in that during its juvenile years it feeds primarily pri-marily on plankton and thus offers litttle competition for the trout population in the same water. It serves as a forage fish during its first two or three years being taken by hook and line only upon nearing or reaching maturity. Joseph Priestly, English chemist, found caouttchouc would rub out pencil marks, a property which gave us the name "rubber." |
