Mr Harmer took the pictures when he, and Mrs. Harmer went to Maryland last summer to visit their daughter Naomi and her family. Kenneth Harmer's color group was in charge of the party. Further details will be in next week's paper. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Jensen have their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Booth and four sons, visiting with them. The Booths have been making their home in Alaska for the past several years, where he is employed by the bureau of land management manage-ment and conservation. After a month's visit they will return re-turn to Alaska for another two years. One evening last week, the Jensens were hosts to all of Mr. Jensen's family. They enjoyed en-joyed pictures shown by Mr. Booth of Alaska, especially some taken of the earthquake a year ago. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Palmer and family had a wonderful trip to Tiffany, Colorado, recently, re-cently, where they joined in a family reunion at the home of Mr. Palmer's father, Mr. A. J. Palmer. About fifty family members were present. Making the trip were Martin and Bonnie Palmer, Karen and Burt Chamberlain and three sons, Bruce Palmer and the parents. Connie Whiting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niel Whiting is home from the USU in Logan for the Christmas holidays. Many out of town visitors were in Mapleton Saturday to attend the funeral services of Howard Whiting. Some of the family members who came from distant places were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Tippetts, Mrs. Fern Waddups and Mrs. Lulu Whiting of Idaho and Mrs. Kate Strate of Colombia, Utah. Many of Mr. Whiting's nieces and nephews from Idaho and surrounding areas also came to pay their respects. His daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Cox, of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvan-ia, will return to her home the latter part of this week. Norma Nebel of Iosepa, Utah, spent two or three days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Johnson. She came especially es-pecially to attend the funeral services of Howard Whiting. The word "crusade" comes from the Latin word "crux," meaning "cross." The Cross of Christ was the official badge of those who joined the Crusades Cru-sades to the Holy Land duriing the Middle Ages. The expression expres-sion "taking the cross" meant becoming a crusader. |
