Show Civil Defense program praised here Officials from the Department Depart-ment of Defense, Office of Civil Civ-il Defense, Reg. 7, Santa Rosa, Calif., from the Corps of En-Utah En-Utah County Civil Defense officials of-ficials visited the junior high school, which is described as a potential location for an emergency emer-gency 200-bed hospital, Thursday Thurs-day of last week. They des-scribed des-scribed the set-up as the best of any in the three states in the region. The officilas were impressed with the close cooperation and dedication exhibited by the city council, by school authorities authori-ties and by local civil defense personnel They praised the dedication of Lew Thorpe Springville Civil Defense director and commended com-mended him for his efforts to eng age volunteer personnel such as the Boy Scouts of the area in the project Following the inspection, the visitors stated that they would attempt to initiate action through proper authorities to acquire 200 beds and other equipment for an emergency hospital at the junior high school site. They noted that the site has considerable advantages such as storage utilization and training and for emergency purposes, which will be of benefit bene-fit to the entire community during any civil defense emergency. |
