Patten has announced. This is the fourth year that the school has received this honor. "We are encouraged by the National Safety Council's recognition rec-ognition of our efforts to build a fine safety educational program," pro-gram," Principal Patten said. "So long as accidents remain the chief cause of death among school-age children, we will continue to improve that program pro-gram and teach our young people peo-ple to protect themselves and their fellow students." The Honor Roll was initiated in 1944. To earn a place on it, a school must present a detailed de-tailed report of its safety program pro-gram to a committee composed of the school principal, the president of the local parent-teacher parent-teacher association or similar group, a student, a local civic leader, and the president of the local safety council. If this committee reports favorably, the National Safety Council lists the school on the Honor Roll and sends the school a Certificate of Exceptional Excep-tional Merit. |
