Show Hike or bike for Arthritis Foundation Adults and youngsters will hike or bike Saturday for the Arthritis Foundation, in memory of Mrs. Opal Walker, Walk-er, former resident of Mil-ford. Mil-ford. Mrs. Walker suffered from arthritis most of her adult years, until she passed pass-ed away in 1980. Her daughter, Mrs. James Mayer, is chairing the local lo-cal event this year, and will hike with her brother, Ronald Ron-ald and many others from the Mayer farm to Milford Saturday, May 2, weather In addition, HikeBike will focus attention on the fact that arthritis isn't just an 'old folks' disease. Young adults, teens, even babies suffer from the nation's No. 1 crippling disease. Recent medical advances offer relief and can prevent crippling, but the key is early diagnosis and prompt knowledgeable medical treatment. Studies indicate 85 of arthritis patients wait four to five years after the first symptoms appear before be-fore consulting a physician. Considerable damage can take place in four years. Plan to participate in the Hike Bike for Arthritis either by collecting pledges and making the hike yourself, your-self, or by making a pledge to sponsor someone else. |
