Mansour said his estimates were that about $200 million would be needed to upgrade state highways, about one half for existing roads, and half for new roads. He said the Milford base site was not serviced by adequate roads and that a new road would be needed from Milford to Mo-dena, Mo-dena, and a spur Into Cedar City. He said that US 6 & 50 would need upgrading upgrad-ing and that U-21 from Garrison Gar-rison to UJS. 50-6 would need some work. The board thanked Mansour, Man-sour, District 5 engineer for a fine job as the Policy Board liason to UDOT. Ralph Starr reported on the Washington trip to the House Military Appropriations Appropria-tions Committee. He said that Utah and Nevada had been unified in their appeal for block grant funding and he felt that they had a favorable Board and Nevada Oversite Committee. Starr also gave a report on the Working Group meeting meet-ing in Salt Lake City. He said the group had tried to get Governor Matheson to temper his report on the DEIS, but that he had included includ-ed everything they had agreed to leave out. He said the report was basically the Governor's and not that of the Working Group or Policy Poli-cy Board. However, the Policy Board's comments from their review team were Included In the written work. Starr and Robinson reported re-ported on visits to local entities, en-tities, and said they would try to keep them updated, but that if any entity wished to have them come at any time to contact the office. Starr said they needed to get started on the fiscal lm -pact study, and that it was probably their most impor- |
